WW2 (Vietnam Reissued) USAF Sergeant's M1 Helmet
Vietnam War Reissued USAF Sergeant's M1 Helmet
A nice Vietnam War period (1969) used M1 helmet with original cover and applied insignia. Reissued from WW2, as it has a rear seam and fixed bales, along with a wartime period khaki chinstrap. Contract number 9085 means the cover was made in 1965. The M1 liner is stamped "52" (mould number) manufactured by Firestone. We believe it to be WW2 due to the khaki webbing.
Phrases such as "MAKE LOVE NOT WAR" "BORN TO RAISE HELL" "1969" and "MEN & BEER" have been written over the cover, which has the correct foliage holes, some rust marks and age appropriate usage.
This helmet was attributed to Sergeant Penland of the USAF 2147 Command squadron, and was most certainly used in the Vietnam war. A nice, untouched piece with great patina. Ready for display.
