A somewhat weathered but highly collectible pair of authentic Kriegsmarine leather trousers. Grey leather explicitly issued to U-Boat crews. Of a reasonable size (48) which is a rarity to find for modern day collectors. Most original buttons intact also including for braces. Some missing but can be easily replaced. Very soft and pliable leather and wearable on the right person.

Made by Hela Kleiderfabrik, Kiel. Original factory tag inside. Kiel was a major naval base and port city during WW2, sitting in Northern Germany on the Baltic Sea coast. This factory specifically made heavy-duty service clothing used by the Kriegsmarine submarine crews, engine mechanics and Panzer crews also. The fact that these trousers have button ups suggests they are from the early war period. It was only towards the end of the war that zippers were used.

Buttons are field grey/black and stamped 'Solide Elegant' which are premium composite resin buttons manufactured by the German firm 'Prym'. These versions rather than the metal military shanks were specifically used to construct the fly buttons and those for holding braces/suspenders to the rear for the Kriegsmarine. This was because they were durable and lay flat under heavy gear.

These were issued to personnel in mechanical rooms, those who worked on deck and in the bridge to protect against the harsh conditions they worked in. Panzer crews also occasionally used them as they were viewed as being robustly designed and they valued the protection that the leather provided.

• Leather braces (no on this version and very hard to find)

• Adjustable belts and practical hip pockets

• Wind and water resistant

Mostly produced between 1940-1942.

Highly collectible and hard to find. Some pitting/marks to the trouser legs but does not greatly diminish their appeal.
