Cracking example of an M3 fighting knife in its M8 scabbard.

The M3 was a fighting knife issued to US troops in WW2 from March 1943 to August 1944. Kinfolks Inc. were a minor contractor based in Little Valley, New York. Out of 2.5 million knives ordered by the US Government, Kinfolks Inc. made only 120,000-135,000 units making them one of the rarest manufacturers of the knife, hence highly desirable as a collectible and demanding a higher premium than others. Other manufacturers include Camillus Cutlery Co., Utica Cutlery Co. and Imperial Knife Co.

Pictures reveal a negligible blunting at the tip of the blade and a minor break at the tip of the scabbard. They also indicate and extremely well presented blade with clear markings and solid fabric material on the scabbard. The handle consists of stacked leather 'washers' with no loss.

This version is also a notable variant as it features a twin pinned pommel with a flaming grenade indicating Ordnance inspection by the US Ordnance Corps. Highly desirable amongst collectors. The knife was originally issued with an M6 leather scabbard but slightly later variants, like this one, transitioned to M8 or M8A1 fibreglass scabbards.

All in all a fantastic example of an iconic WW2 fighting knife. You're unlikely to find one in this condition at a better price.
