South Wales Borderers (SWB) Cap Badge - Slider

£12.00Price
Quantity

Great example of a bi-metal, slider backed cap badge from this famous British Army regiment.

The SWB saw distinguished service in various antecedent regiments from 1689-1881. It was formed from the 24th Regiment of the Foot in 1881. It made notable contributions to the Zulu (1879) and second Boer War (1899-1902) and both World Wars.

Recruitment was mostly from the Brecknockshire, Monmouthsire and Herefordshire border counties.

After WW2 it served in Malaya, Palestine, Cyprus, Eritrea and Aden. In 1969 the SWB merged with the Welch Regiment to form the Royal Regiment of Wales (24th/41st Foot).

If you haven't seen the film 'Zulu' (1964), you really must!
