A cracking piece of history.

The Honorary Alfred Henry Thesiger July 15 1838 - October 20 1880. Died aged only 42.

Known as the Honorary Alfred Henry Thesiger QC from 1858 to 1877 and thereafter as the Right Honorary. This dates this box accurately to between 1858-1877. See the Victorian Crown.

He was a Brilliant British Lawyer and Judge. Third son of the Lord Chancellor Frederic Thesiger, 1st Baron Chelmsford. He played one first class cricket match for Marylebone Cricket Club in 1861.

He was Attorney General to the Prince of Wales and was appointed QC in 1873. In 1877 at age only 27 he was made Lord Justice of Appeal and sworn of the Privy Council. He is buried in Brompton cemetery West London.

Thesiger remains one of the youngest appointees to the Privy Council and appellate. He is remembered as a brilliant legal mind who made huge contributions to the legal profession and a close confidant of Royalty. His meteoric rise in legal circles makes him a notable individual in British legal history.

The box is weathered and the lock does not work. The lid is cracked but it remains a wonderful piece of history which can be used by the right owner to house documents of any nature.

We would suggest that this is a thoughtful and exceptional gift for anyone in the legal profession, particularly those with ambitions to rise quickly through the ranks!
