Always a nightmare to photograph!
3.6m x 1.8m (approximately 12ft x 6ft) Post 1801 construction (thin red diagonal line) probably 1940s-1960s with halyard rope and toggle. Probably 1940s-1960s. Red: For Merchant and passenger ships as opposed to Royal Navy which would be White.
Material is natural linen fibres not polyester like more modern flags. Machine (as opposed to hand) stitched multiple panels.
A great example and beast of a flag which would display well in many Naval settings.
